Our Story
OUR HUMBLE BEGINNIGS >>
"So much talent, so much wasted time..." In the late 1990s, Raja S. Lamba made this statement about good, hard working, talented people in the non-profit sector. At the time, Raja's primary focus was dealing with corporate clients, and improving their efficiency to increase their bottom line. But how did these solutions contribute to a better world? Were the needs of non-profits less important? Was the money not available? Was the need not there? In fact, none of this was true. The thing missing was a developer willing to invest their time into listening to the needs of these inspiring non-profit workers, and developing
software so that non-profit workers could spend more time helping clients, and less time manually counting numbers for stats.
Dignity Computer Solutions took up the challenge, and created the Customized Agency Networked Family Information Tracker
(CANFIT)
BUILDING THE CANFIT CORE >>
In 2002, CANFIT was recognized by the Canadian Research Institute for Law and the
Family for exceptional data collection, reporting, and data roll up to a
provincial wide study on Home Visitation. One of the things that CRILF
found was that the quailty of data in reports was directly related to the buy-in
from staff, and that staff who used CANFIT gave better results than those using
other databases.
When Raja was diagnosed with cancer in 2003, it strengthened his resolve to make
CANFIT into a web based database years ahead of it's time. Much of the
core of CANFIT was developed while Raja was undergoing chemo and radiation
treatment, and much of that core is still in use today.
CANFIT GROWS >>
As CANFIT became more popular, and brainstorming sessions more frequent, CANFIT
became more than just a home visitation database. It evolved into a
product which included survey management, attendance tracking, volunteer
tracking, workshop management, and reminder management. Supervisors
started to realize that the daily / weekly quality control reports not only
helped with statistical reports, but also with client service delivery. As
it grew, so did the CANFIT development / support team, and started to include
modules for Administration and Project Management.
As agencies started to realize that CANFIT was not just a case management tool,
it started to grow into a product which would also included tax receipt
generation, invoice / accounting integration, and community relations. The
community relations module also grew to include mail / e-mail distribution,
credit card enabled donation web pages, credit card enabled event registration
pages, and automated barcoded e-tickets.
THE FUTURE OF CANFIT >>
In 2019, we're proud to say that CANFIT is the all in one solution which replaces
packages like HOMES, ETO, Survey Monkey, Event-Brite, Mail Chimp, Gift Works,
and Donation Perfect. We pride ourselves in providing regular
communication with our clients at a fixed monthly price. Why are we so
confident that CANFIT is the best product? Because CANFIT is designed by
you, and your suggestions make CANFIT the ideal data management tool.
In 2020, Dignity Computer Solutions is planning to release CANFIT Lite which will
be a more afforadable version of CANFIT with all of the features that have been
developed over the years. The regular customization is still encouraged,

Each solution is unique, and we set our prices based on how many of your staff will need concurrent access, and how much regular
support you'd like to have.
Over the years, many modules have been created to handle the needs of most
non-profit organizations. However, we've also found that no two organizations are ever the same. |
To start, we offer a free 2 hour brainstorming session so that we can find out the scope of what your needs are,
and provide you with an accurate quote.
As we brainstorm with you
on how much customization will be needed, we will
come up with a suggestion on how many times that we should meet per month, and
how many tasks you'd like to complete every month.
At the start of any contract, we will be spending many many more hours on
developing your solution than what is specified in your contract. We want
to get it right, and we don't want it to be limited to how much you can afford
to pay up front, so we do not charge any up front fees.
However, if you terminate the contract, you will either be asked to give us 6
months notice where we will provide limited support, or pay out a 5 month
termination fee. We have many clients who we have had for over a decade
who will probably never have to pay out this fee, but it is good to set aside
this amount just in case. In our 20 years of offering CANFIT, we have only had
to charge this fee 3 times.

CANFIT reports allow you to get exactly what you want, and give you
access to quick quality control.
Over the years, we've developed over 400 CANFIT reports. Our competition
want to show you all of their reports to make themselves look good. We
like to find out what you need, show what we've created for other users, and
then customize your reports to exactly what you want, and only show the reports
that you want to see.
CANFIT reports allow you to click on any number in a report to see which
names make up the number. This is especially helpful when there
are missing demographics, and you need to find out which clients don't have all
of the information filled in. When the list of clients come up, you can
click on the client's name to bring up their record, and fill in the missing
information, making for quick and easy quality control when running reports.
Whenver we start a contract, we make a bet that at some point within the first
year of the contract that you will have a 'jaw dropping moment' when you see a
report that we make, which you might have thought was impossible to make.
We encourange you to challenge us! We haven't been stumped yet, and we've

Subject: The First 500 Days With CANFIT
After many years of working with small solutions created by
in-house part time workers
(who are now nowhere to be found) and large computer companies who are too big
to ever find out about us, we finally found CANFIT 2 years ago and we've never looked
back. Raja Lamba at DCS was assigned to our case, and he made it easy for us
to migrate years of client data from our old database into CANFIT.
The early brainstorming sessions got our staff into the habit of thinking about
how to make things better, and Raja's modest personality made it feel like he
was always part of our team.
From an administration perspective, it was comforting to know that we were on a
monthly contract, and that we wouldn't be penalized for coming up with good
ideas. This not only gave us certainty in our budget, but also gave us buy-in from
our staff. It wasn't always easy. For the first months, we spent
many meetings examining what our funders needed, what our organizations mandate
was, and how we could accurately track all of this information without being a
burden to our clients.
This meant examining all of our paper forms,
funding requirements, and our policies towards client service delivery, and making sure
that everything was questioned until it made sense.
Even though this process wasn't always easy, Raja would always keep an eye out for tools
that he could put into the database which would make our staff's job easier, and
provide better service to our clients. In the end, CANFIT became an
incredible tool for case management, attendance tracking, pre-post measurement
scoring, as well as reporting on client outcomes and demographics. We
weren't surprised when Raja showed us that we could keep improving on the
database. We were shown supervision tools used by other CANFIT users to
help with quiality control and reminder management. Is it true that you
are also working on a human resource module to track timesheets and vacation
requests? Please keep us posted.
In addtion to volunteer management, we also found a community relationship module in CANFIT which allowed us to
create event registration web pages to process credit card transactions, and
have our participants automatically sent barcoded e-tickets. When people
would attend one of our events, the barcode would be scanned and automatically
tracked as an attendance record in CANFIT. At the end of the event, they
were all sent a link to a survey that was created in CANFIT, and their responses
were automatically tracked in CANFIT. It even helped with our silent
auction and to draw for door prizes! It also wasn't a surprise that people
would respond favourably to an email broadcast sent out by CANFIT with a
donation link (a web page created by CANFIT). When donations were made,
CRA compliant charitable tax receipts were automatically sent to the donors via
CANFIT.
When we first researched which database we would go with, we were looking at
what each package could do. In our research, we first determined that
CANFIT couldn't do everything that we wanted. The DCS team met with us and
showed us that with a customized system, it's never a question of if something
can be done, but only how quickly it can be done. The Project Management
module helps us prioritize tasks, and looking through our tasks now, we are
looking forward to the next 500 days!
